MANAMA: An agreement to set up Qatar-Bahrain Takaful Insurance Company will be sealed today in Doha. A delegation led by Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Dr Essam Fakhro will attend the signing ceremony. The joint venture will have a paid-up capital of BD25 million, BCCI secretary and acting chief executive Othman Sharif told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej. A majority stake of 60 per cent of the shares will be subscribed in both countries. The headquarters of the new insurance firm will be based in Qatar. No plans to open a branch in Bahrain were unveiled.
