Tehran Times:Iran plans to hold its first International Exhibition of Halal Food in February 2009, Iranian Ambassador to China Javad Mansoori said in Beijing on Saturday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the China-Muslim Countries Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation and Development in the city of Xining, Mansoori added that the expo will showcase the latest achievements of Iran and other Islamic countries in producing halal food, IRNA reported.
He stated that Iran exports over $500 million of food annually and called for the promotion of economic relations between Islamic countries and China.
The ambassador also said that Iran-China trade during the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2008) has reached $17.5 billion, and predicted that the figure would hit $30 billion by the end of the year in March 2009
