ISLAMABAD, June 1 (APP): The International Islamic University (IIU) will hold a national conference on “Socio-economic challenges faced by Pakistan” here from Monday. The two-day event is being organized by the International Institute of Islamic Economics, IIU, in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC), says a statement issued here today.
The topics to be discussed by the experts and speakers during the inaugural session include “Macro-economic Fundamentalism, Populism or What?”, “In Search of a Policy”, “Stabilization of Pakistan Economy Demands a Hit at Root and Sacrifices at Top Level”,”Underlying Economic Challenges and Options for Budget”, “Strategy for Promoting Employment in Pakistan” and “Impact of Trade Liberalization on Wages and Employment in Large Scale Manufacturing Industries of Pakistan.”
While the topics for the concluding session include “Infrastructure and Poverty Nexus: The Case of Rural Pakistan”, “Economic Reforms, WTO and Export Competitiveness: A Case Study of Pakistan”, “Property Rights:
Ensuring Well Being Through Low Income Housing”, “A Critical Appraisal of Taxation Reforms in Pakistan: Challenges and Future Prospects”, “Performance of Banking Sector in Pakistan”, “Food Security, Current Situation, Challenges and Opportunities”, “Pakistan Current Energy Problems”, “Energy Security and the Developing Country” Issues, Strategies and Options”.
The experts and the participants of the conference would also put forward recommendations to the government and policy makers for the socio economic development of the country.
Meanwhile, President IIU, Dr.Anwar Hussain Siddiqui has formed a media advisory committee to ensure proper publicity and projection of multifarious activities at its old and new campuses.
