Sheikh Nizam Yaquby, one of the world's most respected sharia scholars has been studying Islamic law since the age of 10.

At 16 he started teaching Islamic law to others and in 1989 he became interested in applying Islamic law to modern finance. Today, Yaquby says he travels quite extensively to advise some of the world's best-known financial institutions on how to be sharia-compliant. Yaquby says, it is challenging, but modern technology, telecommunications, mobile phones, e-mail, transatlantic jets makes it easier.
