Halal Development Industry Corporation (HDC) has appointed Tamadam Bonded Warehouse Bhd to formulate a logistic framework for the implementation of logistics infrastructure and facilities for halal parks in Malaysia.
"If the framework is feasible, HDC may recommend to the halal park operators nationwide to use Tamadam's services and expertise," HDC chief executive officer Datuk Jamil Bidin said.
HDC today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Tamadam, a provider of bonded warehousing, freight forwarding and transportation services, to formulate the framework at the World Halal Forum 2008.
Tamadam managing director, Eric Cheam Heng Cheang, said the company could help halal park operators develop comprehensive halal logistic components, supply and distribution network.
"The framework structure will be announced at our annual general meeting on June 25," he said.
Currently there are four designated halal parks located at Pulau Indah (Selangor), Gambang (Pahang), Padang Besar (Perlis) and Tanjung Manis (Sarawak).
Meanwhile, HDC also signed an MOU with Muslim Mindanao Halal Certification Board to cooperate in harmonising the international halal certification protocol involving halal certification system and abattoirs.
"We will work to introduce, establish and implement halal processes for the halal industry players in the Philippines and promote Malaysia's halal product and services in the republic," he said.
He said the HDC would also offer a joint training programme for halal industry players and halal certification auditors.
