CIMB Islamic maintains RM1b budget for financing

KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd has allocated RM1bil worth of financing facilities for its business clientele this year, said chief executive officer Badlisyah Abdul Ghani.

The Islamic banking
arm of the CIMB Group had made available the same amount last year.

CIMB Islamic will give special attention to the halal sector, particularly those involved directly in the industry, but subject to certain qualifications, he said.

“We have a special package to give to qualifying halal industry players to get special pricing for their funding,” he told Bernama at the two-day World Halal Forum 2008, which ended yesterday.

Earlier, in his presentation, Badlisyah said that to be really halal, the halal sector needed to use Islamic banking and finance because it only finances halal activities.
