
The first international conference titled “Endowment and Islamic Civilization” to be held during May 13-14, 2008 in the city of Isfahan, the deputy director of the Endowments and Charity Affairs Organization stated.
So fat, over 30 articles have received by the secretariat of the conference, Nader Riyahi said and added that the deadline for sending the articles has been extended to March 29.
The secretariat of the conference has invited a large number of domestic university professors and seminarians as well as more than 20 intellectuals from Islamic nations, he noted.
The two-day event is sponsored by the Islamic Development Bank, Imam Sadegh University, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, the Endowments Organization of Kuwait, the World Development Endowments Foundation, Mofid University of Qom, and the Stock Exchange Organization.
The conference covers the nine topics of: The intent of endowment, cultural aspects of endowment, economic and financial aspects of endowment, managerial aspects of endowment, political and social aspects of endowment, legal aspects of endowment, historical aspects of endowment, the status quo of endowment in Islamic nations and revival of endowment.
Some 108,000 endowed properties are there in Iran, he said adding that the endowment revenues of the country in the current Iranian year (to end March 19) amounted over 800 billion rials. The figure is expected to raise 8-9 percent in the next Iranian year.
Endowment revenues are spent mostly in the frame of charitable activities, academic scholarships, and establishment of healthcare and medical treatment center in underprivileged regions.
