KUALA LUMPUR-OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd will establish its maiden Islamic banking subsidiary this year, director/chief executive officer Datuk Albert Yeoh said Tuesday.
He declined to disclose details, only saying: "We will make an announcement. The first branch will come out this year.
We are very happy to say that we have indeed got the approval (of Bank Negara Malaysia)."
He was speaking to reporters after the bank signed an agreement with Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd as part of its initiative to enhance financial access and support for small and medium enterprises.
